Website Speed Build Challenge at WordCamp Port Harcourt 2026

Think fast. Build faster. Get recognized. Win big.

If you’ve ever told yourself “I can build that website in my sleep” — this is your moment.

WordCamp Port Harcourt 2026, in partnership with Ryzly, is officially launching the Website Speed Build Challenge — a competitive, skill-based contest designed to spotlight talented WordPress builders and reward real, practical ability: speed, creativity, and execution.

And yes… there’s money on the line. Participants stand a chance to win up to ₦300,000 in prizes and consolation rewards.

What Is the Website Speed Build Challenge?

The Website Speed Build Challenge is a two-stage competition:

  1. Online Qualification Stage
  2. Live Grand Finale on Stage at WordCamp Port Harcourt 2026

It’s not theory. It’s not certification. It’s not who talks the most on Twitter.

It’s simple: can you actually build?

Speed-build challenges are becoming a popular way to test real-world WordPress skill — putting participants under time pressure to recreate a website while demonstrating creativity and technical ability.

On 21st February 2026, two finalists will stand in front of a live audience and build a one-page website in under 30 minutes.

Who Can Apply?

This challenge is open to anyone who works with WordPress:

  • WordPress designers
  • WordPress developers
  • Elementor users
  • Gutenberg users
  • Any page-builder user
  • Beginners and professionals alike

If you can build websites with WordPress, you qualify.

WordCamp Port Harcourt itself is a community-led event welcoming everyone — students, freelancers, agencies, and business owners — to learn, connect, and grow in the ecosystem.

How to Enter (Online Stage)

Participating is straightforward:

  1. Record a short video introducing yourself and your WordPress experience.
  2. Upload your video to the Ryzly platform.
  3. Invite your friends and community to support you using the Clap reaction on your video.

Every clap counts as a vote.

This stage is not only about popularity — it’s about presentation and confidence too.

How Selection Works

Participants will be evaluated using a combination of:

1. Judges’ scores

  • Clarity
  • Confidence
  • Demonstrated skill

2. Community votes

  • Number of claps received on Ryzly

Ryzly automatically combines both and generates a leaderboard.

At the end of the online phase:

Only the Top 2 contestants will qualify.

Those two finalists will advance to the live competition at WordCamp Port Harcourt 2026.

The Live Speed Build Final

The final stage happens live on stage at the event on 21 February 2026 at the Celebr8 Center in Port Harcourt.

Finalists will:

  • Receive a design to replicate on the spot
  • Build a one-page website in under 30 minutes
  • Use any WordPress page builder
  • Get all required assets provided

Judging will be based on:

  • Speed
  • Accuracy
  • Execution

No tutorials. No redo. No hiding.

Just skill.

Final Thoughts

Many people say they know WordPress.

Very few are willing to prove it publicly.

The Website Speed Build Challenge is not about who has the most plugins, the fanciest laptop, or the loudest social media presence. It’s about builders — people who can take a blank page and turn it into a working website under pressure.

If that sounds like you…

Apply. Upload your video. Rally your community.

You might just find yourself building live on stage — and walking away with the prize.
